Just Get Started! Food and Water Storage Tips by Tam: Tamilisa Miner

Tamilisa Miner created a ward emergency preparedness blog “just get started - tips and tricks” and creatively shared her knowledge, including by using her “Tam’s Tips” YouTube Channel to teach about food storage. In 2014 her empty garden plot became the project of her next-door neighbor, an agriculture professor and food-storage enthusiast! From there she learned canning, pressure-cooker canning, and how to properly store dry goods. She is a busy wife, mother, film/video actress, bluegrass musician, digital archivist, multiple-business owner, and media producer. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Film from the Theatre/Media Arts Department at BYU, she was hired as an Associate Film/Video Producer for the Audiovisual Department of the Church. She became a full-time Broadcast Producer supporting various departments with streaming and broadcast needs. In 2008 she volunteered to be the first producer to take on the task of creating new content for a Church radio station called The Mormon Channel. Tamilisa served an LDS mission to Milan, Italy. She and her companions assisted with the cleanup from the flooding of the Po River in Turin in 2000. Tamilisa began playing with “Miles to Go”; (a bluegrass band) during her college years, and soon after met Craig Miner, multi-instrumentalist, and luthier. Craig and Tamilisa were playing for the same event at which Tamilisa happened to be trying out performing on the banjo with Miles to Go. This caught Craig’s attention. They dated for a time and then were married in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. They have 3 children and a dog named Banjo. The Miners perform together and have a website www.LoveAndBanjos.com.
